一、高度。为便于欣赏，高度应以字画的中心在人直立平行线偏高位置，一般是房间主人的视线中心偏上为宜，不宜高低参差交错，但在楼梯旁墙壁上阶梯式悬挂几幅题材、风格相近的小品，也别有趣味。

三、挂画。因地制宜。所谓“长短高低，各相宜”，暗含的就是这个道理。书画要挂在引人注目的墙面开阔处如迎门的主墙面、茶几、沙发、写字台以及床头上方的墙壁、床边等。而房间的角落，衣柜边的阴影处就不宜挂字画。较大的房间可挂气势雄伟笔墨刚健的巨幅书画，更显宽阔；较小的房间则宜悬挂娴雅秀丽的精致小品，如小楷、行书，或工笔画等小品，既能增加雅趣，又不显空间狭窄。
